Must I take Antidepressants?
If you are on depression medication, follow your doctor’s prescription. But you’ll never permanently recover from depression by consuming stimulants and antidepressants. Neither can you permanently deal with obesity through pills. It’s okay to take painkillers to temporally relieve you from pain but eventually you need to deal with the root cause of the disease.
To deal any situation conclusively, you must dig its root cause. If depression was caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi, protozoa, worms or any other pathogen, I wouldn’t write or speak on this subject at all. But if depression is a resultant of how we manage stressful situations, then we must speak about it at home as well as in churches, schools and work-place. And many corporate organizations invite me to speak on Stress & Depression.
Like many of you, I have deep respect for medical science. But we also know there are some medical practitioners who’ve turned this noble calling into a reckless business that knows no bounds. There are some doctors who may not want you to permanently recover from depression. You’ve become their livelihood. They keep you in the dark by denying you liberating information and feeding you with dependency information.
Never take any advice as gospel truth. Not even mine. But don’t throw away the baby with the bath water. The highest form of ignorance is disagreeing with something that you don’t fully understand. When you come across ‘expert’ advice, subject it to critical thinking. Ponder over it. Research over it. Give everyone the benefit of doubt and interrogate what they are saying.
They declared Galileo Galilei heretical and arrested him for insisting the world is spherical and the earth is not the center of the earth. While new information makes us uncomfortable, new behavior can only come from new thinking. If you don’t listen to information that challenges status quo with an open mind, you’ll live in darkness and be a slave of the accepted norm.
That something has been done for centuries by professionals doesn’t necessarily make it right. Be a student of life, not a blind follower of professionals. If my followers had all the time to read, I would enumerate hundreds of bizarre treatments doctors used to think were legit that have now been busted.
Case in point, in their book, Quackery: A Brief History of the Worst Ways to Cure Everything, Dr. Lydia Kang and Nate Pedersen explain how medieval doctors would press a sacrificed puppy, kitten, rabbit or lamb on top of a tumor because they thought that cancer was like a “ravenous wolf” that would rather “feed off the sacrificed animal rather than the human patient.”
Knowledge is power. The enemy controls you to the degree of your ignorance. If you don’t pay the price of knowledge, you’ll pay the price of ignorance. Next week Friday the 2nd Nov at Lillian Towers from 6pm to 8pm, I’ll speak on the subject: Stress, Depression & Suicide.
I’ll educate you on the real causes and effects of depression. I’ll show you the early signs of depression and how to deal depression a permanent blow. And I’ll equip you on how to conduct emotional aid to those depressed. I’ll show you how to rescue one who is suicidal before it is too late. Should you want personalized coaching, click…
